Race Strategy
How it works
This ACC fuel calculator helps you determine exactly how much fuel to put in the car before the start of the race. By analysing your race length, lap times, and fuel consumption, it creates a pit stop strategy to ensure you never run out of fuel on the final lap.
To get the most accurate result:
- Enter the Race Length set by the server.
- Input your average lap time from practice or qualifying.
- Check your Fuel per Lap in the ACC HUD (press [Real Time] button to see usage).
- Use the Recommended (Safe) fuel figure when refuelling.
Where to find average fuel consumption per lap
In Assetto Corsa Competizione, you can find this data easily during a practice session. Drive 5–10 laps at a consistent race pace. Open the Real Time app on the top screen of the HUD and look at the "Avg Lap" fuel consumption figure. This gives you a precise reading for your specific car and track combination.
Accuracy & assumptions
This calculator assumes constant fuel consumption. However, in ACC, fuel load affects weight, which slightly increases consumption and decreases lap pace at the start of a stint compared to the end. The "Safety Buffer" option is designed to account for these variables, as well as Safety Car periods or Formation Laps.
Worked Example
Sprint Race Scenario
Inputs: 30 minute race, avg lap time 1m 45s, 2.7 litres per lap, 100L tank.
Result: The calculator determines you will complete approximately 18 race laps. With a 2-lap safety buffer and formation lap, you need 57.2 litres (Safe). This fits easily in one tank, requiring 0 pit stops.
